A good wind on these ponds right after ice out allows these changes to take place. So, I go simple, I use a dropper rig. Usually 6-8 feet of leader and 3 feet of tippet. Top fly is anything that floats well (size 8-10), bottom fly is a plain Hares Ear (size 12-14). Bottom is rigged twice the depth of the water, normally slip-knotted to the top fly's hook.
